When Should You Start Shopping for Your Wedding Dress in Indianapolis?
This is the question we get asked most, and the honest answer is: sooner than you think.
Most wedding gowns are special-ordered, which means they’re produced after you say yes. Standard production and shipping takes 4 to 6 months. Then add 2 to 3 months for alterations because even a “perfect” dress needs fitting to your exact measurements. If you’re getting married in Indianapolis in the summer or fall, you’ll want to start shopping at least 9 to 12 months out.
Waiting until 6 months out significantly limits your options. Some gowns simply won’t arrive in time for a full alteration window. The brides who get their dream dress are almost always the ones who gave themselves enough runway to find it without rushing.

You’ll be matched with a dedicated bridal consultant who will spend your entire appointment getting to know your style, your wedding day vision, and what you do and don’t love in a dress. She’ll pull gowns based on your feedback and she might surprise you with a style you’d never have picked yourself. This is how most brides find the one.
You’ll try on a curated selection, get honest feedback from your stylist, and have all the time you need. No rushing, no upselling, no strangers wandering through your appointment. Just you, your people, and the biggest wardrobe decision of your life.
A few tips before you come in: bring 2 to 4 people whose opinions you genuinely trust, wear nude seamless undergarments, and bring a pair of heels or a similar-height shoe for the best sense of silhouette.
